Stoke Stories Open Conference is part of an ongoing programme of work designed to contribute toward the regeneration of Stoke-on-Trent. While regeneration programmes place emphasis on developing infrastructure, retraining and education; less focus has been lavished on the civic and political reconstruction of deindustrialising cities. Stoke Stories seeks to address this gap.

This day event will bring together representatives of Stoke-on-Trent’s volunteer and third sector community with people from public bodies and local business. It will be an opportunity to get a flavour of the good work being done across our city and to strengthen the links between all three of the sectors.

The Open Conference will begin with a keynote talk by Maurice Glasman followed by workshop sessions and a community market from local voluntary groups and social enterprises. The workshops will highlight themes such as social enterprise, social media, asset transfer, curriculum and community and business start up. 

During the lunchtime there will be a ‘marketplace’ open to all organisations to host a stand/stall to promote your work and activities. The event is free and further details and final programme will be available in mid-October.  Social reporting will take place for anybody who can't make it to participate remotely and the tag for this on Twitter is #stokestories - volunteers to help with this and a social media surgery to help people access technology will be most welcome.
